TNPSC Notifications – How to Apply

TNPSC publishes its notifications on the official website www.tnpsc.gov.in. Each notification gives the posts, number of vacancies, eligibility, exam date and the last date to apply. Follow these steps to apply without mistakes:

1. One Time Registration (OTR): create your OTR on the TNPSC website with your Aadhaar, photo and signature. It is valid for five years.
2. Read the notification fully: check the age limit, educational qualification and community reservation for the post.
3. Apply online before the last date and pay the exam fee (fee exemptions apply to some categories).
4. Download the hall ticket about 10 days before the exam.
5. Keep certificates ready (SSLC, degree, community, PSTM, disability) for certificate verification.

Every year TNPSC releases an Annual Planner listing the tentative months of notifications and exams for Group 1, Group 2/2A, Group 4 and other recruitments. It is the best tool for planning your preparation for the whole year.

How to use the planner

• Choose your target exam and count the months left until its notification
• Finish the Samacheer Kalvi books and Tamil grammar in the first phase
• Start full-length model tests at least three months before the exam
• Revise current affairs of the last 12 months in the final month

TNPSC Group 4 Exam Pattern

Group 4 (Combined Civil Services Examination – IV) is a single objective-type written exam of SSLC standard. There is no interview, so the written score alone decides selection.

A minimum mark must be scored in Part A (Tamil); only then is Part B evaluated. Part A marks also count towards the final rank, which makes Tamil the most important paper.

TNPSC Exams – Overview

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) recruits candidates for State Government departments in Tamil Nadu through the Combined Civil Services Examinations, popularly known by their "Group" names. Every year lakhs of aspirants write these exams for secure, respected government jobs across the state.

General eligibility

• Nationality: Indian citizen
• Tamil knowledge: adequate knowledge of Tamil is required, and every TNPSC exam now includes a compulsory Tamil eligibility test

<p>The final merit list is based on Main exam Papers II–IV (750 marks) and the Interview (100 marks) – 850 marks in total. Prelims marks are used only for screening, and Papers II–IV are evaluated only for candidates who clear the Tamil Eligibility Test.</p>
