Loktak Lake:
For any visitor, the state's main attraction is Loktak Lake in Bishnupur district, 48 kilometers from Imphal city, which is the largest freshwater lake in northeastern India. This is a beautiful body of water that resembles a miniature inland sea. A day spent at Loktak Lake is a memory for a lifetime. Visitors can get a bird's-eye view of the lake from Sendra. Fishermen who live on floating islands in floating huts known as Phumsangs known as Phumdis are a unique attraction of this lake. The Sendra Tourist House with its cafeteria is a popular tourist attraction. Takmu Water Sports Complex hosts boating and other water sports.
Loktak Lake Imphal:
As the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India, Lake Loktak is also known as the only floating lake in the world because floating phumdis are heterogeneous chunks of soil, vegetation and organic matter that occur during different stages of decomposition. The lake plays an important role in the economy of Manipur and is considered a lifeline for the locals due to its importance in socio-economic and cultural life. In addition, the ancient Loktak Lake is a source of water for hydroelectric power generation, drinking water supply and irrigation.
Not only that, but visiting this place can also see how Lake Loktak became a source of livelihood for the rural fishermen living in the surrounding area. Add to this the fact that Lake Loktak was originally designated a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention on March 23, 1990, taking into account the ecological status and biodiversity values of Lake Loktak.

Loktak Lake is widely known as the largest freshwater lake in the northeastern Indian state of Manipur. Due to its graceful beauty, the lake is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Manipur. It is a wide lake with a land area ranging from 250 to 500 square kilometers during the rainy season, with a typical area of 287 square kilometers. The ancient Loktak Lake is located exactly in one place in Moiran, Manipur.
Loktak Lake is famous for its extensive vegetation and national park called Keibul Lamjao. The park can be seen floating on a lake considered to be the only floating national park. Keibul Lamjao Park is famous for a national animal called Sangai, the Manipuri brown antler deer. Lake Loktak is said to be the home and last natural sanctuary of the endangered national animal Sangai.
