Background
- Tamil Nadu Agricultural University was set up at Coimbatore in 1971; its farm-college tradition goes back to the 1868 agricultural school at Saidapet.
- Elsevier is a Netherlands-based science publisher (the Scopus database). The h-index was devised by Jorge Hirsch (2005).
- Note: it is not four from all of Tamil Nadu – many from several institutions are listed; 'four' refers to TNAU alone. It is a list, not a ranking.
